Abstract

This paper explores the life, historical context, and literary contributions of Kristijonas Donelaitis, a foundational figure in Lithuanian literature. The study focuses on his biography, socio-cultural environment, and his major literary work The Seasons. Using qualitative research methods such as historical and literary analysis, the paper highlights Donelaitis’ role in shaping Lithuanian national identity and literary tradition. The results indicate that his work not only reflects 18th-century rural life but also establishes a strong foundation for Lithuanian written literature.
