Abstract

This article explores how communicative activities help develop students’ self-confidence in EFL classrooms. Many learners feel nervous and uncertain while speaking English during lessons, which often affects their classroom participation and communication skills. Fear of making mistakes and limited speaking practice may reduce students’ willingness to express their ideas freely.

The research was conducted through classroom observations, questionnaires, and speaking activities during teaching practice. Pair work, discussions, role plays, and presentations were used regularly in order to encourage active communication during lessons.

The findings showed that communicative activities helped students feel more comfortable and confident while speaking English. Learners became more active during classroom interaction and less afraid of expressing their opinions. The study also revealed that supportive teacher behavior and a positive classroom atmosphere reduced speaking anxiety and increased students’ motivation during communication activities.

Overall, the research suggests that communicative teaching methods create a more supportive and effective learning environment for improving students’ self-confidence in EFL classrooms.
