Abstract

This article explores how gamification strategies—such as points, badges, levels, and group competitions—can improve student engagement in secondary school English lessons. A two-week study with 28 A2–B1 learners showed that gamified tasks increased motivation, focus, and participation. While most students reacted positively, the article highlights the importance of balancing game elements with learning goals to avoid unnecessary competition or stress.
