ABSTRACT.This article explores the importance of synonyms in the Russian language, their functions, and their impact on speech culture. The main types of synonyms, their stylistic features, and the influence of context on their usage are examined. Special attention is given to the role of synonyms in literature, journalism, and daily communication. The article also analyzes the difficulties non-native speakers face when learning Russian synonyms.
