Abstract

This exploratory action research investigated the impact of picture-based speaking tasks on speaking accuracy among A2-level EFL students at a secondary school in Uzbekistan. Thirteen students were divided into a control group (n = 6) receiving traditional speaking activities and an experimental group (n = 7) receiving additional picture-based speaking tasks over four weeks. Data collected included a speaking accuracy pre- and post-test, and a learner perception survey with multiple-choice questions. Results showed that the experimental group exhibited greater improvements in grammatical accuracy, vocabulary use, and overall speaking accuracy compared to the control group. Survey responses indicated positive attitudes toward picture-based tasks. Findings suggest that picture-based tasks can effectively support speaking accuracy at the A2 level.
