Digital cognitive fatigue is increasingly recognized as a consequence of prolonged exposure to short-form, repetitive, and low-demand online content. Although not classified as a clinical disorder, it is characterized by reduced attentional capacity, cognitive overload, mental fatigue, diminished motivation, and compulsive digital media engagement. This study examines the conceptual foundations of digital cognitive fatigue, its association with contemporary digital media usage patterns, and the underlying neurobiological and behavioral mechanisms, including dopaminergic reward system modulation and depletion of attentional resources. Behavioral and cognitive markers are identified to differentiate digital cognitive fatigue from normative stress responses or occupational burnout. Furthermore, evidence-based strategies for self-assessment and cognitive recovery are discussed, with emphasis on mindful media consumption, regulation of digital exposure, and promotion of digital well-being.
