THE ROLE OF READING IN BUILDING OVERALL ENGLISH

Abstract

Reading is a fundamental skill that plays a crucial role in the development of overall English language competence. Through regular exposure to written texts, learners encounter new vocabulary, sentence structures, and patterns of language use in meaningful contexts. This paper explores how reading influences key areas of language learning, including vocabulary acquisition, grammatical awareness, writing proficiency, and speaking fluency.
