Abstract

This article examines the impact of bilingualism on language learning by analysing academic results and various influencing factors around the world. It also explores the cognitive, linguistic, and social advantages that bilingual individuals show compared to monolingual learners — such as better language-switching skills and faster foreign language learning. At the same time, it discusses the difficulties of bilingual education, including the risk of not fully mastering either language and problems of language interference at the phonological and lexical levels. The article concludes that, despite some challenges, the advantages of bilingualism are stronger because it enhances students’ thinking skills and provides greater educational opportunities.
