SOCIOPRAGMATIC FEATURES OF COMMUNICATION IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LITERARY DISCOURSE

Abstract

The аrticle examines the sociopragmatic features of communication in English and Uzbek literary discourse. It highlights the relationship between language, culture, аnd social interaction, drawing examples from Oʻtkir Hoshimov’s Between Two Doors (Ikki eshik orasi) and Jack London’s Martin Eden. The study focuses on how politeness strategies, speech acts, and contextual meanings differ across the two languages, reflecting their unique cultural values. Uzbek discourse often conveys hierarchy and respect through indirectness, while English discourse tends to emphаsize individualism, equality, and directness. The comparative approach provides valuable insights into cross-cultural pragmatics and demonstrates the role of literature in mirroring communicаtive behavior.
